Euro Fruits is India's first Table Grape Exporter to be certified for EurepGap Standard in April 2004. The certificate No. EUREPGAP.FoodCert.FFV.Option 2.04.04.03 dated 8th April, 2004 is issued by FoodCert NL BV under the PMO option for the Euro Fruits group of farmers.
Euro Fruits has zeroed in on EurepGap standards as the key instrument of change that was needed in the Indian grape farming community.
Since January 2003, Euro Fruits committed its resources in understanding the concept and documentation / certification process of EurepGap.
The biggest challenge in the implementation process, of course, was to convince the number of farmers with relatively small holdings to shift gears for highly controlled, documented farm management operation. Being the first produce export company from India to talk about EurepGap on mass scale made the task all the more daunting.
Indeed Euro Fruits management was pleasantly surprised about the enthusiastic response from a number of progressive grape growers to its call for Mission EurepGap in India.
Euro Fruits' was the sole Indian exporter representation in the September 2003 Global Conference of EurepGap in Spain. The directors of the company also visited leading grape growing regions around the globe on a benchmarking visit specifically aimed at EurepGap related learning.
On our invitation, several international players in produce industry, having EurepGap exposure, visited our farms to see the implementation progress, from time to time.
