Euro Fruits Value Added EurepGap Initiatives

Euro Fruits implemented the EurepGap standards and received certification in April 2004 by FoodCert BV.

Post 2004 season, Euro Fruits undertook a major exercise of studying global farm management practices/ standards, carrying out comparative analysis of these standards with EurepGap standards and providing advice to our farmer-members based on the comparative study.

The emphasis here is on sustainable environment friendly ethical vineyard management practices by going beyond the minimum requirements of EurepGap standards.

The following specific information dissemination initiatives were taken in this respect:

  1. Compilation of Advisory Note in local language based on UK DEFRA Green Code
  2. Making the local farmers aware about the enviormental impact issues by introducing them to LEAF Marque Standards and self-audit checklist
  3. Compilation of Advisory Note in local language based on Generic Protocol of the Assured Produce Scheme UK
  4. Seeking Material Safety Data Sheets and Environment Information Sheets from pesticides manufacturers for awareness building amongst farmers
  5. Information dissemination amongst farmers about the concept of Crop Protection Management Plan as per Voluntary Initiative UK Checklist in local language about the competencies required by decision makers and users of fertilizers based on FACTS UK training modules
